WELCOME TO MISSION HILL, BUT FIRST…
Whether you are looking for some answers in life, a church home, or simply a place to visit, we welcome you to Mission Hill Church!
We understand that it can be intimidating to visit a place for the first time, so it is our desire to help answer any questions that you might have, before you even step foot onto our campus.
WHO IS JESUS?
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
PASTORS & DIRECTORS
Meet The Staff
Pastor Paul Purvis became the Lead Pastor of Mission Hill Church in 2011. Under his leadership, Mission Hill expanded to include three campuses in the greater Tampa area, serving a diverse congregation, where over 65 countries are represented each week. Pastor Paul began his relationship with Jesus as a child and felt the call into full-time ministry as a young man. He has now been in ministry for nearly 30 years, and in addition to leading Mission Hill, he is the founder and president of The Barnabas Effect. He and his wife, Kimberly, have five children, four sons: Micah, Caleb, Noah and Luke, and Aniyah, their Purvis princess, who was adopted into the family in 2017. The Purvis Pack has recently expanded again with the recent addition of their daughter-in-law, Rebekah. Pastor Paul desires to do whatever it takes, wherever he is to shine with the light and love of Jesus, and he leads Mission Hill Church with the same vision and purpose, loving God passionately and loving people intentionally, both locally and globally. You can reach him at paul@missionhill.org

WHAT TO EXPECT
At Mission Hill, you can expect…
A service designed to help you connect with God and learn His truth. Our services are typically 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
A casual, comfortable environment. You are surrounded by people who love God and love you. Whether you’re wearing a suit and tie or shorts and flip-flops, you are welcome here.
A chance to respond to any spiritual decision you may have made. If you have prayed to begin a lifelong relationship with Christ, or you would like to begin the process of becoming a member, you can let us know by filling out our Online Communication Card. You may also visit our Got Questions tent in the back for any spiritual counsel or prayer.
During worship:
To minimize distractions during worship, we ask that you remain seated once the pastor begins his message. If you have a child that becomes fussy, please kindly consider other worshippers. Our nursery and preschool are open on Sunday mornings on all campuses and are staffed with trained and caring volunteers. Thank you for helping us make a great worship experience for everyone!

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Mission Hill Church is founded on a core of beliefs derived from, and supported by, the Bible. These statements are not inclusive of every area of theology (theology means the study of God and religious doctrines) and life, but they are those beliefs that we deem central and essential to someone who is a Christian. Other doctrines and teachings that impact life, but which are not fully supported by the Bible, we leave to the individual’s interpretation.
In essential beliefs – we have unity.
“There is one body and one Spirit….one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…” “Live in harmony with one another….” Romans 12:16
In non-essential beliefs – we have liberty (grace).
Ephesians 4:4-6
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters….Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls….So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God….So whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22
In all our beliefs – we show charity.
“If I….can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2
BAPTISM
We are excited that you are interested in baptism! We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior.
These pages have been designed to explain baptism and the necessary steps to be baptized at an upcoming service. If at any point you have questions, you can contact a pastor in the church office at (813) 988-1138. We consider it a privilege to walk with you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey.
