WELCOME TO MISSION HILL, BUT FIRST…
Whether you are looking for some answers in life, a church home, or simply a place to visit, we welcome you to Mission Hill Church. We understand that it can be intimidating to visit a place for the first time, so it is our desire to help answer any questions that you might have, before you even step foot onto our campus.
Feel free to navigate through our website and email us with any questions. It is also obvious that a website can’t answer every question you might have, so feel free to contact our office for a personal conversation before your first visit.
WHO IS JESUS?
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
PASTORS & DIRECTORS
Meet The Staff
PAUL PURVIS | Lead Pastor
Pastor Paul was raised in a pastor’s home and has been a lead pastor for nearly 20 years, leading Mission Hill Church since 2011. Mission Hill is a multigenerational, multicultural, multiplying church, which now has three campuses in the greater Tampa area: Mission Hill Central Campus (Temple Terrace), Mission Hill Six Mile (Seffner), and Mission Hill Lake Carroll (Carrollwood).
His vision for Christ-followers is that you do whatever it takes, wherever you are, to show the light & love of Jesus like a city on a hill. Mission Hill lives this vision through loving God passionately, and loving others intentionally.
Pastor Paul has a heart for missions and pastoral training, so every year he travels around the world equipping and encouraging pastors, through The Barnabas Effect conferences. He has invested in the lives of pastors spanning across 4 continents (including the Middle East); and he also participates in at least one mission trip a year, traveling to countries around the world sharing the hope and love of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Paul is an author on a best-selling devotional, My Daily Devotional, as well as a contributor on Johnny Hunt’s book, Get Connected: Mobilizing Your Church for God’s Mission.
Pastor Paul married his wife Kimberly in 1993. They have four boys – Micah, Caleb, Noah, and Luke – and an adopted daughter, Aniyah.
He currently serves on the Florida State Board of Missions, and on the executive board for the Tampa Bay Baptist Association. He has previously served as the President of the Florida Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference, and as a Moderator of the Tampa Bay Baptist Association.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At Mission Hill, you can expect…
A service designed to help you connect with God and learn His truth. Our services are typically 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
A casual, comfortable environment. You are surrounded by people who love God and love you. Whether you’re wearing a suit and tie or shorts and flip-flops, you are welcome here.
A chance to respond to any spiritual decision you may have made. If you have prayed to begin a lifelong relationship with Christ, or you would like to begin the process of becoming a member, you can let us know by filling out our Online Communication Card. You may also visit our Got Questions tent in the back for any spiritual counsel or prayer.
We are now translating our 10:45 AM service in Creole, Chinese, and Spanish!
During worship:
To minimize distractions during worship, we ask that you remain seated once the pastor begins his message. Our nursery and preschool are open on Sunday mornings at both services. If you have a child that becomes fussy, we do ask that you kindly consider other worshippers and step out into the atrium where you can watch a live feed of the service with your little one. Thank you for helping us make a great worship experience for everyone.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Mission Hill Church is founded on a core of beliefs derived from, and supported by, the Bible. These statements are not inclusive of every area of theology (theology means the study of God and religious doctrines) and life, but they are those beliefs that we deem central and essential to someone who is a Christian. Other doctrines and teachings that impact life, but which are not fully supported by the Bible, we leave to the individual’s interpretation.
In essential beliefs – we have unity.
“There is one body and one Spirit….one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…” “Live in harmony with one another….” Romans 12:16
In non-essential beliefs – we have liberty (grace).
Ephesians 4:4-6
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters….Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls….So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God….So whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22
In all our beliefs – we show charity.
“If I….can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2
BAPTISM
We are excited that you are interested in baptism. We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior.
These pages have been designed to explain baptism and the necessary steps to be baptized at an upcoming service. If at any point you have questions, you can contact a pastor in the church office at (813) 988-1138. We consider it a privilege to walk with you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey.
